It’s post-time for mystery buffs, racing enthusiasts and horse-lovers Emma Lewis is one of four veterinarians working for an equine clinic in the Saratoga, New York region. Recently divorced and relocated, she struggles to create an identity for herself both professionally and personally, amidst the daily workings of a busy veterinary clinic in the heart of racing country, from late night emergency calls to surgeries. Everyone seems to have a motive. It’s up to Emma to sort fact from fiction. As she pieces the puzzle together, Emma must race to save her own life and horses from the same deadly fate. For the tragic events are much more than a series of coincidences; they are deadly symptoms of a disturbing disease that plagues the community and people Emma has grown to love. And now fear.

I am so tired of reading poorly edited books.This is a great story, but glaring mistakes ('bale' instead of 'bail', 'breaks' instead of 'brakes', to name but two), divert the reader's attention from an otherwise well-told tale.
I will read this author again, hoping for editing that better supports the writer's efforts.

Good solid mystery. I liked the characters, the horses, the mystery a d the writing. A book doesn't get much better than that. Hoping for more.
An amazing, clean mystery. Loved this book! Appropriate for 13+ in my opinion. Glad I read it. Will be looking for more from this author.
I enjoyed reading this book, perhaps took a little bit of time to get going but was good enough to make you want to keep reading after that.
Good for those who like horses, mysteries and there was even a little bit of romance, or at least the difficulties of making relationships work, mixed in.
What an exciting book! So many twists and turns kept me guessing the entire time. I hope there will be many more like it.
Why is it excellent? It is well written. Great characters. A mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. Isn't full of sex and unnecessary violence. And on top of all that, in spite of the obvious editing errors, it is a good read for all of us horse lovers.
What isn't there to like?
I would have given this a higher rating, but it drove me nuts to read about Travers day (held in August) and frosty mornings. Even higher up in the mountains, we don't have frost in August. And horsemen use "reins" not "reigns". A little more attention to detail would have improved this book dramatically for me.
Just finished Straight by Dick Francis and Blood Stock caught my eye, Fast moving, enjoyed it. I will read more A.P. Hill,s books in the future.
